I’m in love with another man

Don’t worry, my husband said it was fine with him.

It was easy.  He’s cute and well mannered.  I love his hair and his smile.

Yes, I said ’smile’.  That’s what happens when someone saves you from certain death and people love all over you for the rest of your life.

You smile. :-)

Doug and I saw our potential rescue dog adoptee last night.  I say potential because we haven’t gotten our final say on him whether we can adopt him.  Prince was rescued from death row.  As are many other dogs.  And it was with our desire to adopt a rescue dog that we filled out applications, had home visit, had interviews and gave references.

We feel sorry for animals like Prince who never make it this far.  They get put down for no other reason than they were “one too many” on the earth.

Please have your pet spayed or neutered.  I’ll let you know if they decide we can have Prince.  There’s one other application besides ours.

If you were in my town

Dear Son,

I’m up late writing this because I am a night person, so bear with me.  I’m  a little more emotional at night.

I’m writing you because you some how disapeared from every one’s life.  Your dad, myself, your sisters.  You won’t call.  You only answer your email on myspace, and then it is only a few words.

We are suspicious.  Months and months go by without contact.  Are you alive????  We wouldn’t even know.

This brings to mind the way that alcoholics and drug addicts treat their families.

Are you an alcoholic, son?

When I do contact you on Myspace you are evasive.  I ask you 3 questions, you answer one.

I ask you the other 2 questions again, you answer one.

I ask you the last question for the 3rd time, you beat around the bush.  They are not hard questions son.

How are you?

Are you doing okay for yourself?

Do you have a job?

I always say “call me” afterwards.  I always say “I love you”

Do you love me son?

You’re a complex person.  You’ve always been grouchy, over analyzing, brooding….

But you are also a talented and gifted human being.  You are an incredible artist.  A wonderful writer.  A gentle and loving person.

Your dad says that you treat him the same way, leaving him hanging with your absences & scratching his head in disbelief.  Your sister says, “he’s a loser”  because you won’t talk to her.  You’re in the same city for Pete’s sake!  If you were in my town son,

I’d insist that I be there for you. Even if you do drink too much.  Even if you may be doing something you think I wouldn’t approve of.  Even if you’ve been kidnapped by a cult and driven far away.  Even if you’re in jail.

That’s what mothers do, son.

a half dozen mother’s days have gone by.  More than a few Christmases.  My birthdayX6.   I send you small gifts on your birthday, Christmas…

You send me silence.

Bloggers maybe you can tell me why a grown up son who starts a life elsewhere stops calling or coming home to visit anymore.  I at first chaulked it up to the wild oat sowing of a young man.  But he’s 23 now.  He’s totally dissing all of us, so it’s not just my imagination.  Last known personal visit with him: 2003.  I’m getting desperate.

10 reasons WE FAIL AT FAITH IN GOD

1) We’re studying everything but the Bible, no wonder we’re confused.  We “study” T.V.  we “study” music,  some of us study other religions, supposedly to find out how to get your point across to someone of a different faith.

2) We question our own existence, Earth’s existence and sadly we even question God’s existence. We ask ourselves over and over, “But how did He GET there?”  (what came first the chicken or the egg)  Were we an ape first, and then a blob before that, and then an amoebe before that?

3) We judge God, “If He’s so kind and loving, why is there war, disease, poverty”  We forget that there is another side of human kind.  To believe in God is to believe also in an enemy.

4)  We look to human beings instead of our Creator, All humans FAIL at one time or another “everyone in church is a hypocrite” “look what that preacher did now”

5)  We protest  discussions about God, and label people who start them annoying or bothersome.  We really don’t want to hear from others what may be truth in our lives, but it may be painful to hear, because hearing means we have to change some part of ourselves.

6)  We put our own complicated theology or doctrine on God’s SIMPLE message of salvation.    The more important and constant building blocks and foundation of Christianity a 3 year old can understand. Behave yourselves.  Love your sister/brother.  Don’t lie. Don’t steal.  Don’t treat others in a way that you wouldn’t want to be treated. etc etc.  True spirituality parallels life and parenthood. The more simple and stronger our faith is, the more we please God.

7) We over analyze everything, (see? the first part of analyze is ANAL) worrying about stuff that is settled already. You have been given Eternal Life as a free gift if you know Jesus Christ as your personal savior.  We try to make it harder by putting our human qualifications into it, and saying that we may lose something God has already given us. Salvation.

8) We get lazy and then wonder why it’s ‘not working’ for us.  We study magazines, books, (porn?), and T.V. but we dont have time to crack a Bible.  We talk on the phone, online and to our loved ones, but we can’t pray.  We jump and shout at sporting events, concerts,  and weddings, but we can’t clap, sing, or dance in church.

9) We don’t enjoy life.  Simply put, we’re too spoiled to enjoy what we do have.  So we pout and complain about the most minor things of life.  A life with God as our guide is about a life of CANS.

Not CAN’t haves or CAN’t do.  Laugh. Love. Live.

10) Mistaking unimportant issues for make or break issues~  What kind of clothes you wear.  Women wearing only skirts.  No make up.  No swimming in a bathing suit.  No T.V.  No dancing outside of church.  What day of the week do you attend church, saturday or sunday?  Do you eat pork or not?  Do you have a body part pierced other than ears.  Do you have a tattoo.  Do you smoke?  Do you do all these?  Makes not a difference.  You accepted Jesus Christ as Savior,  THEN WE ARE ON OUR WAY TO HEAVEN.  Not there yet, not perfect, but on our way  Everything else is about making yourself look good to the world.
