Boy Scout meals and a giant kite

Hi Daddy,

Did you know all your gray hair is beautiful to me?

Did you know the last time we talked your voice sounded so elderly that I wanted to cry?

Did you know I wish I could take you and mom away to a tropical island to live in a mansion with your own maid and cook?

Did you know my fondest memories of you are the most simple?

~Of peanut butter crackers all wrapped up in plastic to go in the lunchbox that went with you to work

~Of boyscout dinners cooked in the oven, the burger, the potato, the carrots.

~Of big giant kites being made by your hands, flown proudly by us.

~Of mini bikes and snowmobiles and playing baseball outside

~Of raking leaves and sledding down hills

~Of giving us all that we could ever want or need

~Of swimming in the pool and rides on your back

~Of big giant belly laughs infectious to all

These are the memories still great in our minds.  As sharp as yesterday as if we weren’t this far away.
