The kids in the hat will be out soon

In less than a week, all the crumb snatchers will be out of school for 10 doggone weeks.  This is a little daunting to me as these 2 gurlz are like thing 1 and thing 2 from The Cat in The Hat book when they get bored. (and it doesn’t even have to be raining)

 

They are bored often too, and they want mommy to play with them.  If mommy doesn’t play with them they EAT….everything that’s not nailed down.  When they are done eating, they start fighting.  When they’re done fighting, they play really well together, and then….

 

They trash the house.

Sometimes they make forts with my couch cushions, blankets and chairs. 

 Sometimes they make a bratz doll extravaganza that somehow never gets put away. 

I might have Bratz and Barbie throwing down in my living room while I accidentally step on their little accesories, embedding plastic in my feet!

They video tape each other doing silly things.  What you then have is an hour of footage where they look up each other’s nose with the camera. 

 Sometimes Thing one and Thing two lay the smack down on each other.

 Hair doesn’t get pulled, or scratching done, mind you, PUNCHES get thrown. 

If they do suceed in playing with friends for the summer, Little “A” is quite the social butterfly. 

She’ll invite friends in when I have my back turned, pouring them all FULL cups of red koolaid that sit precariously over carpets, and giving them popsicles and cookies galore.

 Big “A”, friend or no friend, will still hang with mommy like white on rice.

  “Play with us!”  She’ll say. 

 For she knows that sometime in the distant past, mommy was full of life, playing kickball, tag, and jumping on trampolines with all the little kids in the neighborhood.

  A practice that has since gone by the wayside when I reached 40!   

I hope this summer they will have changed a lot.  I think mommy becoming the “enforcer” will help a lot.
