Keeping the petals down

Picture 236

*and you may think she’s defeated but her petals point down so all of life’s rain will just roll right off her.

So there’s the light in every tunnel I suppose.  Time cards littering my desk, but it won’t be my duty much longer. Yay me.   It utterly sucked at work today.

It was supposed to be one of those quiet mondays.  Instead,  I was flying solo today.  Serving 5 new people who all descended on my office at once, while  I was simultaneously trying to punch in people’s time card. Ugh!!

Tommorrow, more of the same.

So should I have spent all morning lamenting over my “non existent vacation”  which is now in the dumps?

Well, whether I should have or not,  I did.

*incase you were just stumbling onto my blog.  I had been planning a vacation since May!  I carefully saved and planned it out being sure to communicate to my spouse, my need for a semi solo getaway and the surprise I planned for my older daughter.

We got passports early on.

My spouse and I agreed on this small time of respite and planned accordingly, so I thought.

Time was approaching for this lovely week away.  I had booked and paid for hotel and flight.  When I was informed… he would not have money for he and the girls to make it until next pay day 10 days from now. ( I’m talking groceries…Food.)

Regretfully, I had to cancel all the plans.  ALL of them.

Can anyone not feel the pouts through their computer screen right this minute??   I was sad.    It hurt.

The only ones who truly noticed today are people that know me, and knew that I am usually not the petulant employee that I was today.  No vacation equals a sad Sweetie.

But my kids, who are none the wiser are happy now, with groceries now bursting from skinny pantry and frig.

They have popscicles and icecream and punch and soda, and fruit, and nice kid cereals.  They have Kid Cuisines and chicken nuggets and sammiches and popcorn, and chips, and frozen waffles.

Even the puppies have a huge box of Milkbone dog cookies.

I don’t quite know what to get my oldest daughter for her birthday now. She said that all her friends were looking forward to meeting me.  Now,  Somehow,  no present I give her will be able to equal the vacation that once was in the works.

So nice night isn’t it?  Is the moon round and fat for you too?  was it orange early on and low in the sky,  it’s presence reminding you of some looming problems on the horizon, like it did for me tonight?

I am NOT addicted to blogging!
