Having aquired a home of my own…
follow along as I pimp out my crib. lol. I know. I’m 44. and like on my 3rd or 4th childhood. What we all need in this life is a little simplicity.
*hand made (and very well i might add) doll home bought by Sweetiegirlz for ten bucks at a yard sale. The front view:

*the back, the fun side.

*there are 9 rooms. 3 attic. 3 2nd floor and 3 bottom.
On the weekend of the 16th Oct 09 I did this:
to carpet 4 of the rooms, I went to Home depot and bought 2 berber carpet mats in neutral color. they cost 3.99 and I got 4 of the rooms carpeted with it so It was a good bargain. relax! the neutral color is only my starting point, No doubt I will have a couple nice accent rugs in there when it’s detailing time!

*For the kitchen and bath, i also picked up at Home Depot , TWO squares of linoleum floor which they sell by the square. Each square is anywhere from 69 cents to a dollar and something. So, another great decorating bargain.

*The attic floor was a tad uneven and because this doll house was stored in an outdoor shed or something (had cobwebs and wood is damaged in places–see top left hand of picture)
I elected to use a pack of craft sticks (2.47 at WalMart) to hot glue to a piece of thick plastic to make this attic room floor. It’s brighter and cleaner looking and more to scale than the big board floor. I already had the hot glue gun and glue sticks, so no extra cost there.

*I went to Michael’s craft store (the mecca of all crafters) and found the one true wood piece they had to work with for furniture. can you believe it? NO other furniture. My price: 1.00. The stain I could kick my self for spending 8.99 for that small can. ugghhh. walmart had it for 4.oo a can. well at least I can use it for other projects.
*the attic room with teddybear (1.49 from Michaels) a mini chest I stained (.50 cents) Not decorating yet just trying things out.

I will add to this page as I go along. Stay tuned.
On November 4, since last time, I did this:
I got a strong start on the bathroom, first placing linoleum from Home depot (one square= 1.69) white to brighten up the shadowy interior of the doll house.
I started cutting the paint samples from home depot (they were free) as “painting” the walls.
also made one wall white,
wall two china blue and
wall 3 a combination of both colors.
I had ordered a “pop out” kit from E-bay for the bathroom furniture for 7 bucks. It consisted of very thin wood “pop outs” that have tabs and holes, but I ended up having to hot glue them a tad anyway.
When they were together, I used an old small jar of gloss white paint that Doug had in the garage and painted the bathtub and toilet white.
I am a very clumsy model maker (even taking my time) , so my attempts at the tub and toilet were marginal at best.

the kit also came with a dressing table and sink that I elected to put in the kitchen. (you’ll see why later, I may change my mind) Anyway, I finally removed the towel bar and toilet paper handles from where the original owner had them in the attic of all places!
who wants to go to the bathroom in the attic? lol.
So, far from done, but here is a “mostly” done, without the window dressings in the bathroom. The mini- jar of “bath salts” Is actually a tiny bottle of cut amethyst I got from the science center in Florida years ago.

This is so wonderful! What a great daydream to bring to life. I always wanted a doll house when I was little. I can’t wait to see what you do next.
It’s a fun project. I’ll try to keep it up. i spent a bunch o money already on it.
